The American Association of University Professors has a rich history dating back to 1913. In this year the Association was created to represent academe's common interests and deal with the problems of university policy. In 1931 the local chapter at URI formed with two members: Joseph W. Ince of the Chemistry department and Andrew J. Newman, director of the school's placement service and lecturer in public finance. The records in this collection pertain to miscellaneous materials from the 1940s through the 1960s including meeting notices and member lists.
