Abstract:
This collection consists of the personal and professional papers of Elaine Showalter, professor of English, emeritus, at Princeton University, scholar and critic of nineteenth century American and British literature, and teacher and founder of gynocriticism – "a female framework for the analysis of women's literature." Materials include correspondence, newspaper and magazine articles by Showalter, and research clippings and handwritten notes, all related to such topics as television criticism, feminism, and women's liberation. This collection dates from 1967 to 2017.

Abstract:
Theodore S. Sienicki recorded information about his service during the Vietnam War in response to questions posed by John F. "Jay" Barry (Class of 1950), Associate Editor of the Brown Alumni Monthly. The recording was made in July 1973, four months after Sienicki had returned home from being a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. This collection contains the transcription of that recording and the article published in the Brown Alumni Monthly based on it by Jay Barry. Sienicki tells the story of his Air Force career as the weapons systems operator in an F-4 fighter-bomber based in Thailand doing bombing missions over North Vietnam. He was shot down and captured on May 3, 1972 and held as a prisoner of war in the Hanoi Hilton prison camp in Hanoi, Vietnam for 11 months until March 28, 1973.

Rollo G. Silver (1909–1989) was an American book collector and historian of American printing, typography, and publishing as created by White people in the European printing tradition. With his wife, Alice, he created a major collection of books and manuscripts relating to Walt Whitman. This collection contains his correspondence, research on publishers and typographers, specimens of type and a miniature toy printing press.

This collection contains the professional papers of Christina Simmons, Professor Emerita of History and Women & Gender Studies at University of Windsor, Canada. Her scholarship concentrates on feminist historical studies; marriage; American civilization; and gender, race, and sexuality. She received her MA in American Civilization from Brown University in 1975 and her PhD in American Civilization from Brown in 1982.
