Corso (Gregory) papers

Abstract:: This collection, although small in scope, contains a significant assortment of documentation, the sum total of which provides substantive information about Gregory Corso’s personal and creative life. It contains working manuscripts and original artwork by Corso, as well as a small collection of correspondence mostly connected to Corso as either sender, recipient or subject. It also contains a small group of books by Corso; over one hundred photographs of Corso and his family and associates; phonograph records and video cassettes by or about Corso and other Beat writers; and a few miscellaneous ephemeral materials. Highlights of the collection include eleven of Corso’s journals containing about 700 pages of hand-written entries in the from of prose, poetry, and scattered drawings, as well as three files of manuscript material, containing approximately 175 pages of a work entitled

Abstract:: The Lee Garnett Day and Nancy Sayles Day papers consist of business records, correspondence, genealogies, photographs and other material from the Day and Sayles families. Much of the material concerns the Collins-Day South American Expedition of 1914-1915, Lee Garnett Day’s military career, the Bennett-Day Importing Company, and both Lee Garnett Day's and Nancy Sayles Day's travels around the world. The collection is dated from 1890 to 1968. Most of the material is dated from 1911 to 1945.

Abstract:: The Nathan Fellows Dixon Family Papers consist of letters, legal documents, personal and political memorabilia and photographs relating to the Dixon Family of Westerly, Rhode Island. The bulk of the papers date from 1825 to 1900, with some pre-Revolutionary as well as twentieth-century documents included. The majority represent the domestic and political lives of three generations of men named Nathan Fellows Dixon, all of whom served in the United States Congress.

Collection also includes photographs taken by Richard Nelson depicting Rock Cliff in Newport, mostly in panoramic format.

Abstract:: Reverend James A. Driscoll, O.P. (1924-2013) was a professor of Religious Studies, Theology, and Art History at Providence College from 1967-2007. This collection is comprised of his personal materials which reflect his interest in art, architectural history, stamp collecting, and photography, among many other interests. The collection includes a significant amount of photographic materials such as prints, negatives, and 35mm slides, many of which were contributions to Providence College Magazine. It also includes personal materials such as correspondence, family photographs, and prayer cards.
