Abstract:
Anna Eleanor Wallace (1886-1982) was a dancer and elocutionist from Providence, Rhode Island. She taught dance, dramatics, elocution and physical education to students of all ages in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Most of her papers consist of copies of recitation pieces, instructions for dances, and photographs. The papers also include some of her personal belongings, catalogs from schools of dance and oratory, and ephemera such as brochures and programs of her students' recitals. The material in the papers is dated between 1874 and 1982, with most dated between 1902 and 1936.

The Lester Frank Ward papers in the John Hay Library consists of the correspondence, manuscripts, published writings, and personal library of a noted nineteenth-century American geologist, paleontologist, and sociologist. These materials reflect virtually all aspects of Ward's professional life, including his years of service as a member of the U. S. Geological Survey staff, his activities as a professor at both Columbian College (now George Washington University) and Brown University, and his long career as a writer of scholarly monographs and articles on many subjects.
