Abstract:: The T. H. Franklin Collection comprises approximately 1,800 glass slide negatives and 1,900 ship records, also known as "ship slips", used by the ship brokerage company to promote ships to prospective buyers between 1902 and 1940. A board range of ship types are represented in this collection from the United States and abroad. A select number of photographic contact prints made from the negatives are also part of the collection.

Abstract:: The collection comprises 390 architectural drawings dating from 1844-1859 by Rhode Island architect Thomas Alexander Tefft (1826-1859). These include public buildings (churches, schools, libraries, hospitals) and private residences, in addition to towers, gates, monuments and gravestones. In some cases, there are various elevations, views, and floor plans for the same structure. While many of the structures Tefft designed still stand, some were never built, and many have been destroyed. Tefft was a graduate of Brown University (Class of 1851).

Abstract:: The Henry Knox Thatcher papers consist of an oil painting of the U.S.S. Constellation, military memorabilia, and three journals and logs kept by Thatcher while on board several ships, including the U.S.S. Brandywine (1839-1841) and the U.S.S. Constellation (1862-1863). The journals reflect ship life, diversions on shore, the social and political climate of his time, and the duties of American ships in the Mediterranean during the early years of the Civil War.
