Joseph Livramento was a professional musician, band leader, and teacher. Born in New Bedford, Livramento lived in New York City before moving to East Providence in 1990. Livramento began his musical career as a member of the Cape Verdean Ultramarine Band Club and went on to perform with orchestras throughout New England and Canada. He then returned to New Bedford to form the Joe Livramento Band. He later joined the Machito Orchestra. He played with many popular singing groups and performed in every state except Oregon and Montana. He was a roster artist in the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, a member of the Local 802 Associated Musicians of Greater New York, and a former member of the Cape Verdean League Association Inc. in New York City. He died in 2003.
