The collection contains an illustration removed from “Free military school for applications for command of colored troops.” The illustration depicts a street scene with people on a sidewalk walking by buildings. Two signs on the building read “Free military school for applicants for command of colored troops.” There is a large flag for the United States hanging outside the building, with a sign on the flag that reads “Supervisory Committee for Recruiting Colored Troops and free military school for applicants for command of colored troops.”
