            <scopecontent>
                <p>The collection contains information regarding the uprooting of Cape Verdean immigrants in the Fox Point neighborhood of Providence, during the early and mid 1900’s, as well as the Sheldon Street Church. Included are newspaper clippings about Edward “Eddie” Soares, a Cape Verdean musician who grew up in Fox Point. The collection also includes newspaper clippings regarding a Cape Verdean American play titled, “Some Kind of Funny Porto Rican?” from 2006. Additionally, there is a personal note to Eddie Soares and his wife, Cynthia, regarding this play from Elva and Bob Kerr, who was a writer for The Providence Journal. There is also a newspaper article written by Kerr regarding Cape Verdeans in Fox Point, with Cynthia Soares specifically mentioned. </p>
