        <bioghist><head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
            <p>Ambrosius Holbein (1494-1519) was a German painter, drawer, and printmaker and his brother, Hans Holbein the Younger (1497/8-1534), was a sixteenth century portraitist. Their father was Hans Holbein the Elder (c. 1460-1524), and their uncle was Sigmund Holbein, who died in 1540.</p>

            <acqinfo><p>The collection was likely donated by Martha Bacon Ballinger and Ronald Ballinger in the 1980s as part of the Bacon and Hazard family collections. It was separated from those collections prior to 2019.</p></acqinfo>

Denison.
