The collection contains an original letter from William Clarke to John Russell Bartlett, Secretary of State of Rhode Island in 1871. Clarke explains why he believes there is an error in the notes in the margin of the covenant of the first settlers of the Island of Rhode Island. He ends with hoping his argument is carefully considered and filed with the covenant.
