              <p>The collection contains a xerographic copy of an original scrapbook of newspaper clippings, published in the New Bedford Mercury during the 1920s and 1930s, focused on the Cape Verdean packet trade. Sailing vessels mentioned in the articles include the Coriolanus, Blossom, Fanny Bell, Valkyria, Matthew S. Greer, Arcturus, Arthur James, Fairhaven, Marion Conrad, Burkeland, Nettie, The Friars, John R. Manta, Hirondelle, Amid, James E. Coburn, and Bradford E.             <acqinfo><p>The xerographic copy of the scrapbook was donated by Daniel M. Rodrigues in 2010. A deed of gift was signed at that time.</p></acqinfo>
            <processinfo><p>The xerographic copy of the original scrapbook was made in 2010 by Marlene Lopes, Special Collections Librarian, who then foldered and boxed the copy after the original was returned to the donor. The collection was described in 2026 by Digital Archivist and Special Collections Librarian Veronica L. Denison.</p></processinfo>
