Born June 3, 1912, in New York, Ingamar Marguerite Alven Ducey married Charles J. Ducey in 1932; they lived in New Haven, Connecticut. The couple had a daughter, Cathryn Annette Ducey (1935-2001), who was an English professor at Rhode Island College for thirty-five years. Ingamar died on February 28, 2003, in Providence, Rhode Island.
The collection includes handwritten essays, lectures, and notebooks on pictorial art, costume design, and interior decoration by Ingamar M. Alven Ducey while studying at the Yale School of Fine Arts in the 1930s.
Researchers are advised to contact Rhode Island College Special Collections for questions regarding permissions to reproduce, distribute, or otherwise publish material from this collection. Although Rhode Island College has physical ownership of the collection, it does not necessarily hold literary rights. It is up to the researcher to determine the owners of the literary rights and to obtain any necessary permissions from them.

The collection was a donated either by C. Annette Ducey or Ingamar M. Alven Ducey prior to 2003.
The collection was initially arranged and described prior to 2011. The collection was re-described and materials foldered in 2023 by Special Collections intern, Melissa Moniz, under the supervision of Digital Archivist and Special Collections Librarian, Veronica Denison.
