The Chapel Committee was formed on January 11, 1956, to oversee and review changes to the Chapel’s activities based on faculty and student recommendations, with the goal of emphasizing moral and spiritual principles during Chapel services. Attendance at Chapel was mandatory for students at Rhode Island College until 1962 and included presentations, guest speakers, music, and readings.
The collection includes the proposal to create the Rhode Island College of Education Chapel Committee, along with the Committee’s recommendations for restructuring the Chapel’s organization and its programming.
