The Rhode Island College Board of Review for Faculty Personnel Matters was tasked in handling faculty grievances regarding tenure and promotion, sabbatical leave, rehiring, and other employment matters.
The collection contains the Board’s by-laws, records of membership, correspondence between Board members, as well as meeting minutes. The collection contains folders regarding specific individuals’ grievances, which include the initial complaint, correspondence, evaluations, hearing documents, appeals, supplemental documents, the Board’s meeting minutes and notes regarding the complaint, the Board’s recommendation, and the College President’s acknowledgement of the recommendation.

Box one, folders 1-3 are open for research. The rest of the collection is restricted due to personally identifiable and sensitive information. Please contact Special Collection at least two weeks prior to needing access so we can redact appropriately.

The first three folders in the collection are the administrative committee records, while the remaining records pertain to individual grievances.
The collection was transferred to Special Collections in 1983 by Professor Philip Whitman.
