The Rhode Island College Academic Standing Committee is tasked with recommending guidelines relating to students' academics. They also handle grievances made by students regarding issues with their academic standing.
The collection contains recommendations on academic procedures related to students, such as student teaching, summer courses, and graduation requirements. The collection includes correspondence between members of the committee, as well as several other committees and departments. The meeting minutes contain records of the committee with the members' names, and the issues that were discussed in each meeting. Annual reports, which detail major topics and committee accomplishments, are also included.

In 1982, Earl Stevens transferred some Academic Standing Committee records to Special Collections. It was undocumented when the rest of the physical materials came to Special Collections. The electronic files were transferred to Special Collections in 2024.
The collection was arranged and described by Abigail Standeven, Special Collections intern, under the supervision of Veronica L. Denison, Digital Archivist and Special Collections Librarian, in 2025.
