Dr. Ellsworth Starring was elected chairman of the Council of Rhode Island College for 1973-1974 and 1974-1975. He had held a seat representing Elementary Education in the 1972-1973 Council. Dr. Starring was prominent in the field of aerospace education, having received and used teaching material provided by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Dr. Starring also received a Faculty Appreciation award from Epsilon Rho, an international honor society in education.
The collection consists of reports, minutes, and correspondence from the RIC Council and its committees under Chairman Ellsworth Starring. The collection includes materials related to the early history of the Rhode Island College Council circa 1962-63, then called “The Faculty Council”, attributed to Dr. Elizabeth Coolings, who gifted them to Dr. Starring.
