As Chief Executive Officer, the President of Brown University, reports to the Corporation, oversees all divisions of Brown’s administration, and is chief ambassador for the university. The President is a member of the Board of Fellows, as prescribed by the Charter of 1764. The President's Office reference files comprise topical files arranged alphabetically in one series. The files include a selection of historical and administrative records related to the administration of the University. Topics are broad ranging, though issues concerning accreditation and reaccreditation, minority affairs, and include accreditation and reaccreditation, minority affairs, and presidential search and selection committees are well represented. Additional topics include Corporation membership, Pembroke and Veterans' Colleges, fraternities, and the Lamphere Case. The material dates from 1960 through 2001.
