         <abstract xmlns:ns2="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" id="ref2" label="Abstract">This collection, dating from 1890 to 1941, consists of letters addressed to both Edwin Collins Frost (1867-1956) and William Henry Frost (1863-1902) and a small autograph collection. Edwin Collins Frost was an assistant and instructor of rhetoric at Brown University from 1895 to 1898 and the cataloguer of Marsden J. Perry's Shakespeare Collection from 1901 to 1907. William Henry Frost joined the 
                <title type="book">New York Tribune</title> in 1887 as a reporter and drama critic and was the author of four books for children.</abstract>

         <head>Biographical note</head>
         <p>Edwin Collins Frost (1867-1956) received an A.B. in 1890 and an A.M. in 1897 from Brown University. He was an assistant in rhetoric at Brown from 1895 to 1896 and later an instructor of rhetoric from 1896 to 1898. Frost was the cataloguer of Marsden J. Perry's Shakespeare Collection from 1901 to 1907, and was known as a traveler and an author.</p>
         <p>William Henry Frost (1863-1902), brother of Edwin Collins Frost, received an A.B. from Brown in 1886. He joined the 
                <title type="book">New York Tribune</title> staff in 1887 as a general reporter and in 1889 became the dramatic news reporter. He received an A.M. from Brown in 1889. He was the author of four books for children (illustrated by Sidney R. Burleigh of Providence, RI), 
                <title type="book">The Wagner Story Book</title> (1894), 
                <title type="book">The Court of King Arthur</title> (1896), 
                <title type="book">The Knights of the Round Table</title> (1897), and 
                <title type="book">Fairies and Folk Ireland</title>. He died of unsuspected diabetes, aged 39 years.</p>

         <p>This collection of approximately 80 items, largely dated from 1890 through 1910, consists of letters addressed to the Frost brothers, Edwin Collins (who lived in Providence) and William Henry (a resident of New York City). The collection also includes a small selection of autographs from William Henry Frost's autograph collection, two letters addressed to "Mr. Frost" (without any indication as to which of brother the letters might have been addressed), and two letters to third parties by others (one mentioning Edwin Collins Frost).</p>
