Oral history interviews conducted in 1993 by Peter Cohen with AIDS activists who were involved with the group ACT UP in Rhode Island and New York. The interviews were used as part of Peter Cohen's dissertation research at Brown University and used extensively in his subsequent publication: Love and Anger: Essays on AIDS, Activism, and Politics (Haworth Press, 1998).

Although Brown University has physical ownership of the collection and the materials contained therein, it does not claim literary rights. The audio cassettes are arranged in alphabetical order by the name of the interviewee.
There are no restrictions on access for analog materials, except that the collection can only be seen by prior appointment. Some materials may be stored off-site and cannot be produced on the same day on which they are requested. Advance notice is required to view any audiovisual media or born-digital records that may exist in this collection. All cassette tapes in this collection have been reformatted and can be accessed in the request link located in Series 1. For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. Researchers may request access to copies by contacting the John Hay Library with the collection name, collection number, and a description of the item(s) requested.
