<p>Captain Joseph Trowbridge (1736-1790) was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on June 15, 1736, where he also worked as a mariner and merchant. Trowbridge died on December 17, 1790, in Savannah, Georgia, while away on one of his voyages. </p>
