The Faculty Senate was first organized in 1969. The earliest predecessor of the Senate was the Faculty Affairs Commmittee, whose minutes date back to 1962, followed by the Faculty Assembly, and later the Faculty Association. Composed of representatives from all academic and administrative units, the Faculty Senate is responsible for academic policies, educational standards, curricula, academic regulations, and faculty welfare.
